Real Working Mom Stories

Testimonials

Close-up photo of a woman with dark hair, wearing a patterned headband, smiling inside a room with wooden paneling.

“This was the first time working with a life coach and it was a life-changing experience. The tools and strategies we used have helped lead me to a greater understanding of myself and my direction in life. I feel empowered to continue to work and grow beyond my sessions with Katelyn. I can’t recommend her enough.”

“I'm present in ways I never had been before. I now have systems in place that I know can be changed as the seasons of life change. I've released so much "mom guilt" and I've started off on a journey of showing my girls what it means to care for yourself.”

Colleen H., Mom of 2

A woman with long brown hair, blue eyes, and fair skin, wearing a blue blazer and a floral blouse, standing against a plain light-colored wall and smiling at the camera.

“Katelyn is an expert at eliminating obstacles. She helps you simplify the decision-making process, which takes the most mental energy in creating any plan. Additionally, she motivates you to acknowledge the little accomplishments you make each day.”

Kathy A., Mom of 2

“I was feeling a bit lost and extremely overwhelmed. I knew I needed to do something different to get out of this rut of anxiety and stress. I have a friend who worked with a personal coach and said it was life changing, so I thought.... "maybe I should do that". Well after a quick google search, I found Katelyn and knew she was the one for me! Katelyn really got me thinking about what it is that I am searching for and what really are the goals I’m trying to achieve? I ended up finding peace in the craziness of life and learned to embrace and better manage it. Katelyn helped me put everything into perspective and realize it’s okay to not be perfect and that in order to get new results I needed to first change my mindset.”

“I worked with Katelyn for two years when after having two kids and living through the pandemic, I could not find my way back to myself. I felt frustrated and lost. She was invaluable in helping me take small, reasonable steps to take better care of myself. 6 months into working with her, I was able to achieve a huge goal I thought may never happen for me.

Kate M., Mom of 2

“Katelyn has really helped me address some very big issues that I have been trying to solve on my own for decades. Her warm, wise and caring advice and helpful pragmatic tips are a joy to implement. I highly recommend working with her.”

Carola C.

A smiling woman with short light brown hair, red lipstick, and pearl earrings, wearing a blue and white striped shirt and ripped denim shorts, sitting outdoors in front of a wooden fence.

“Like many working moms, I wanted to figure out how to "do it all." I had a lot on my plate with working full time and taking care of a baby, and I was worried that the only answer would be “do less.” Katelyn helped me reframe this challenge, though. She provided actionable ways to make/find time and change my mindset around how I choose to spend that time.”

Molly M., Mom of 1

I was feeling overwhelmed as a new mom with a demanding job and I wanted to find a coach who specifically supports working moms and Katelyn was the perfect fit! I grew a ton in just a few months and our sessions were always so supportive and non-judgmental.”

“Coaching taught me to find a way to navigate my life with more intention, joy, and peace. Katelyn is a brilliant, experienced, hardass that gently and very kindly nudged me away from my own internal nonsense. I may have quit my job without her or fallen into depression. Instead, I feel like I have the tools to figure out how I want to navigate my life. Because of coaching, I've tried ballet classes with a friend, started a book club, carved out weekly date nights without apology, and learned to give myself permission to just be me.”

“We all have the same number of hours in a day but Katelyn helped me prioritize, where to cut things, ways to streamline, find “me” again and I’m so thankful for my time with her. It’s an investment but well worth it and will pay itself back in so many ways.”

“Life as a single, working mom was overwhelming and taking its toll on me mentally and physically. Working with Katelyn has given me back a sense of agency. I once again feel that I can create a life I enjoy. I make choices and intentional effort daily to be the person and mom I want to be.”

“When I reached out to Katelyn, I had lost the ability to prioritize tasks. I felt “busy” all of the time and was disengaged from my career. After just a few months, I’ve made staggering shifts in my general outlook on life. I approach each day with decisiveness and purpose and accept each moment and season of my life as it is, without judgment.”

EMILY MAYO

“I had a lot of frustration and resentment for not really having a lot of time to myself. But I’m a person too, not just a parent. Coaching gave me the confidence to make time for myself to do yoga, dance, and all these things that I love to do. And I love that my kids see me doing these things!”

Millie N.

Corporate Manager
Mom of 1

Millie was a self-described over-achiever who had a lot on her plate. But her need to always be available to everyone for everything was taking over her life. And although she was an excellent advocate for others, she’d lost the ability to protect her own time and energy.

Breaking old habits wasn’t easy. So we started small by having her close down her email and Teams to focus for small stretches, pausing before she said yes to a new project, and intentionally previewing her week before she was in the thick of it.

After a few months, even Millie’s husband and her team at work noticed a difference in her.

"I own my time now, and I'm proud of that. I make what I want to be a priority, a priority."

"I can't even imagine being back in that place where I feel that emails are so urgent that I have to risk my life to answer them."

Ashley C.

National Non-Profit Program Manager
Mom of 2

Ashley started coaching after feeling like she’d hit a wall. As a working mom in a male-dominated industry, she felt the constant pressure to prove herself while managing the demands of motherhood. That stress took a toll in every area of her life.

Through coaching, Ashley learned to set new boundaries and also how to ask for support when needed. "Having someone oriented towards my growth was so valuable. Coaching has changed how I show up in every area of life, even ones we didn’t discuss in session.”

Instead of leaving her job, Ashley discovered a completely new perspective: “The job I have is a gift and I’ve even become better at my job.” And on top of that, she’s thriving personally. She’s getting daily movement, starting horseback riding lessons again, and tending to her new garden.

“I have no problem spending money on my kids, but I hesitated to spend money on myself, especially on things that felt frivolous, intangible, or unnecessary. Coaching was worth every penny and more. I would have paid a lot more money if I’d known this was the shift I’d see on the other side.”

Lisa B.

Sr. Director Institutional Partnerships
Mom of 2

When Lisa joined Beyond Balance, she felt completely overwhelmed with no capacity to do anything other than work and take care of her kids.

“I couldn’t imagine how to fit anything else into my life. There was no time, no space.”

In the group, Lisa learned to create sustainable systems to free up time and mental energy. We also addressed the energy drain from constant decision-making so she could make faster decisions without second-guessing.

What started as reading just a few pages of a book here and there, now looks like training for a 5K, writing her own novel for fun, and reading over 100 books in a year.

“Who you are after you have kids is different from who you were before, but I came back to myself more quickly because of coaching. This is the version of me my kids are seeing, from the earliest part of their lives.”
